Visit to Garmin HQ Taipei

Purpose of visit: Discussion on marketing activities and car manufacturer project in Malaysia.

People at meeting: Daniel, Hugh, Art, Elisha and big guy Tony from Garmin

Daniel picked me up from the hotel and brought me to Garmin office. It was a nice 6 storey building with a small manufacturing and R&D lab inside. Most of the products are made at another Garmin factory nearby. We got to the entrance and it was a nice grand entrance with all the Garmin products on display. Got the visitor's pass and then went to the Marketing department on the ground floor. Proceeded with our meeting at 10am when Hugh came in and started to discuss on the OEM car manufacturer projects.

At about midday Art Yang and his staff Elisha came into discuss on the Marketing Communication portal for us to access to enable us to do our marketing work in Malaysia. Director and head of Marketing Tony came in and took us all for lunch and had extended discussion about the Malaysian market and where it is heading. Tony also asked my feedback on how to combat parallel imported unit and Garmin's market position in Malaysia.

After lunch Art presented me with a lot of new marketing materials. We continued the discussion on OEM projects and the direction we will take over the next 1 year. Garmin staff gave good support and were always willing to help.
